Hair Transplant Recovery

Recovery depends on the complexity and extent of the procedure carried out. Aching, tightness, and throbbing are managed with the pain killers prescribed by your surgeon. The bandages are usually removed one day later. You may gently wash your hair within two days following surgery. Disiscuss the possibility of swelling, bruising and drainage with your surgeon.

Strenuous activity increases blood flow to the scalp and may cause your transplants or incisions to bleed, avoid strenuous exercise and activity for at least three weeks.

Back to normal:

How long it will take to return to normal routine depends on the length, complexity, and type of surgery you've had. You may feel well enough to go back to work and resume normal, light activity after several days. Many patients who have had transplants are dismayed to find that their "new" hair falls out within six weeks after surgery. You should know that this condition is normal and almost always temporary. After hair falls out, it will take another five to six weeks before hair growth resumes. You can expect about a half-inch of growth per month. It will take about 10-12 months for hairs to fully grown with natural looks.
