What is FUE HT Procedure?
FUE hair transplant surgery is a very popular surgery today and is preferred by many patients. Instead of the classical technique of FUT (or Follicular Unit Transplantation), where a strip of skin is removed to collect the grafts, FUE grafts are made directly from the scalp. The most important factor in choosing the FUE technique is that it leaves no visible marks and provides natural-looking results.
In FUE hair transplant surgery, groups of 1-4 hair follicles, commonly known as grafts, are manually removed one by one and placed in a storage solution. Then, when the extraction phase is completed, the doctor opens the channels using micro blades. These channels opened by the doctor are the holes or slits where the grafts are placed. After the channels are opened, the doctor removes the grafts from the solution and implants them in the recipient area.
Patients who have completed FUE hair transplant surgery may notice the first results about two months after the transplant. On the other hand, for more noticeable growths, it usually becomes more noticeable after six months and full results usually appear 12-18 months after the procedure.

What is DHI (Direct Hair Implant) Procedure?
DHI hair transplant surgery is a newer procedure compared to FUE and is similar to the FUE technique, that is, it does not leave a scar after the surgery and provides a natural appearance. The difference between these two procedures is that although the graft removal process of DHI is similar to FUE, there are a few differences that should be noted
The hair follicles are removed one by one using a specialist tool with a diameter of 1 mm or less. These hair follicles are loaded into an implant device known as the Choi Implanter Pen and implanted them directly into the recipient area. During the DHI procedure, the creation of the channels and the implantation are completed at the same time. With Choi Implanter Pen, it gives more sensitivity to the doctor while implanting the hair follicles. At the same time, it provides more comfortable control of the angle, direction and depth of the newly transplanted hair. Also, recovery time for DHI is similar to FUE. It usually takes 12-18 months for full results to appear.
During FUE, a surgeon manually cuts a series of channels in your scalp to place hair follicles. DHI technique is a procedure that helps surgeons make these incisions and also transplant hair, and both DHI and FUE prevents the long scarring caused by FUT, but these surgeries usually take longer and are more expensive.
Difference Between DHI & FUE
The most important difference between DHI and FUE is the way the grafts are implanted in the recipient area, for example, during FUE hair transplantation, the channels must be opened before implantation so that the surgeon can manually implant the extracted grafts. However, DHI uses a special tool known as the Choi Implanter Pen, so it is performed immediately after extraction, without the need to create channels for the grafts first, during the implantation phase. Before the Procedure
Prior to the procedure, the following steps are taken.
1. Talk to the surgeon to assess if he is the right person to do the job having the required knowledge, experience, and expertise.
2. Share photos of your scalp with the surgeon to assess if you are the right candidate for hair transplant and to determine the adequacy of your donor area and the number of grafts that can be done.
3. Decide which procedure you may prefer DHI or EFU.
4. Inform the Surgeon about your health, prior surgeries, medications you are using, or if you have any allergies.
5. Prior to the procedure stop using blood thinners, Vitamin B and E, and anti-inflammatory medication.
6. If interested, let us know at least 2 weeks in advance to set up the appointment.
Day of the Procedure
The following steps will be undertaken on the day of the procedure:
1. Briefing about the procedure by the Surgeon and answering any questions you may have.
2. Carefully read and sign the consent form.
3. Photos will be taken before the procedure.
4. Checking your vital signs and carrying out blood work.
5. Shaving of the head
6. Sedation and local anesthesia is given for numbness of the scalp.
7. Carry out the procedure.
8. Bandage the donor area and apply antibiotic cream.
9. Medications are given for infections, allergies, and edema.
10. A day after or with one day gap of the procedure the checkup will be done for any signs of infections or inflammation and the bandage will be removed and wash the scalp.

The Surgeon will give written instructions on how to take care of your scalp going forward.

1. How many grafts can be undertaken in one session?
In one session which lasts for between 6-8 hours about 4,500 drafts can be implanted.
2. How long the transplanted hair can grow?
The transplanted hair can grow for around 2 months and it will fall off before it grows again and will continue to grow as normal hairs. It will take around 8-12 months for the hair to be fully grown. Normally hairs are grown 1cm per month.
3. What are the side effects of hair transplant?
The side effects could include swelling, bleeding, infection, or itching. To take care of these side effects the surgeon will give you medications.
4. Do the hair grown after the hair transplant looks natural?
Yes, as the transplanted grafts are taken from your donor area, the hair grown looks as natural as before.
5. Can there be any scars left after the hair transplant?
When the skin heals with the formation of scar tissue there won’t be any scars left.
6. Will there be any pain after the hair transplant?
You may have pain after the hair transplant but the doctor will give you the painkillers to be taken.
7. Can the hair be taken from other areas of the body, say from the chest?
One can take the hairs from other areas but the results will not be good and more than 50% of the implanted hairs will fall off over a period of time.
