Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck surgery, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to remove excess fat and skin from the abdominal area and tighten the underlying muscles and in most cases, it restores weakened or separated muscles, creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control.

A tummy tuck procedure is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. However, the results of a tummy tuck procedure are generally permanent. Note that positive outcomes can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight.

Individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women considering pregnancies are advised to defer this procedure. The tummy tuck procedure cannot remove stretch marks except in cases where they are located in areas of excess skin that can be excised.

This procedure can last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the case, whether it is a full tummy tuck or a midi or mini tummy tuck.
